Franky De Pril
Global Strategic Indirect Tax Team –Ernst & Young

Franky started working as a Customs and International Trade specialist more than 12 years ago. Franky worked both in London to Brussels and is now part of EY’s Global Strategic Indirect Tax Team. Franky is also a lecturer at Vlerick Hogeschool Gent – Leuven, an internationally recognized business management school.

Franky has an extensive experience in customs and trade optimisation within international supply chains and works closely together with transfer pricing and corporate tax to make a business’ supply chain processes tax efficient. Franky has advised large multinational and other companies on their global trade management functions focusing on compliance with the regulatory environment as well as on cost reduction.

Franky also advises clients on customs and trade technology solutions, following the automation of customs clearance processes. In the EU, Franky has managed a number of multi-country projects on the Authorised Economic Operator status, which is the accreditation the Customs Authorities are giving to businesses that are considered to be trustworthy and compliant. Equally so, such status indicates that a business closely monitors security in its international supply chains.

Franky is one of the so-called AEO pioneers and was involved with UK Customs in drafting the AEO self assessment questionnaire and guidelines; this as part of the UK pilot project. Today, Franky is heavily involved in EY’s AEO program across the EU which includes developing an appropriate strategy and operational model to deal with all the new trade regulations entering into force. Franky has been assisting businesses in various industries (CB/retail, manufacturing, defence, oil and gas, trading, automotive, shipping).
